New Hallway, Black Doors

Oh my goodness, I have been wanting to share our finished upstairs hallway forever but I couldn’t think of the words to write nor what items I wanted to place up here. These last couple days I’ve finally gathered all those words and here to share it. We’ve had our hallway completely finished since the middle of summer. Then I brought up this large mirror from our local Fred Meyer a few weeks ago. I love how this mirror makes our hallway even bigger. This week the last thing I added were a couple of framed pictures on one of our only spare walls up here. This hallway is a busy one so we don’t have a ton of room for much non-functional things. Both kids’ bedrooms are on the left side right after the stairs. Then we have a linen closet to the right. And the opening to the right leads to one of the doors to our bathroom and another to the master bedroom. A lot of doors in such a small area.

Here are a couple TERRIBLE photos right after tearing up the carpet and taking the old doors down:

So for demo we had to tear up the nasty carpet, take down the old doors, and scrape the awful popcorn ceiling. We matched the wall color to the rest of the walls throughout the house with Valspar’s “Bistro White“. We also continued our flooring from the other floors up here too. We have this flooring [here] throughout our entire house now. When it came to installing our doors these are our style [here], also from Lowe’s all painted in Valspar’s “Tom Cat“.

I wanted our hallways to replicate an old farmhouse hallway yet have a bit of modern touches and a little Ingrid’s Design Blog twist. Why did we choose to do black doors? I walked through a home maybe 4 years ago that was a new modern farmhouse build and very high end and expensive. All the interior doors were black. Every time I entered a room in that house, the black doors stole my eye balls. That evening I came home and I told CJ we have to do black doors in this house. He gave me that typical “oh great” husband look but heard me out and agreed! The rest is well… now this! I LOVE walking through this hallway everyday now. I love seeing our babies play and look at themselves in the giant mirror in this hallway. And I love how mine and CJ’s vision came together. I hope you guys are able to get some inspiration from this if that’s what you are looking for, or if you just simply enjoy seeing me share these things. Thank you for being here. It means the world to us. If you have any questions, please comment or visit my Instagram where you can also follow along for more. Have a happy day everyone! xx
