Old Window Gallery Wall

Last week I shared my dresser makeover that I did with the magnolia paint I snagged from target [here]. The dresser sits on one side of the living room and on the other side is our new couch and now this window gallery wall! Since we’ve lived in this house I have never had anything hung on this wall. Our couch and previous couch has always sit against this wall since there really isn’t another place to put a couch. I never knew what I could do with this wall. I mean I have sat and stared at that wall long and hard in the past just to figure out what I could do with it. I knew I wanted to maybe do some sort of gallery wall but I just wasn’t sure. I also had trouble figuring out how I would design the wall with the air conditioner panel with it right there kind of in the way. It has always been such an eye sore, but we are eventually going to change it out for a more fancy high end one. But after getting our new couch in a week or so ago, I finally came up with this…

I wish I could say that I planned this wall out and had it all organized and measured out, but I didn’t at all. I didn’t measure or level anything either. This gallery wall came to mind one night after midnight when I couldn’t sleep. As soon as the idea came to mind I started getting all my old windows together that were laying around and wasn’t already using. After I got them all together, I thought I had more than 4. But I just used what I had and thought I could add more windows or other things to the gallery wall later down the road. I bought a couple of these windows on a swap site and the others I got from CJs Aunt and Uncle in Priest River Idaho who own a window & glass business. I asked her while back if she had a couple unique windows that I could have and she brought me the 4 pane and 2 pane window. They are my favorite!! After I had the windows hung I had to move them around a little bit to make sure it matched up with the couch. I used a couple nails for each window and just hung the windows right on the nails. Once they were all set, it needed something else… My mind went straight to a wreath. I made this one hung on the window a few months ago from some stems I picked up from Hobby Lobby.

I love how it all turned out so far. It makes me feel so cozy and warm. I also love how the windows help camouflage the air conditioner panel instead of actually covering it up. I may add more things to this wall later on but maybe not. I may take down and start something different in the future, but for now this will stay and we will enjoy it! I hope this may help or inspire those that need help with designing an awkward wall like ours. Thank you for visiting my blog today. It means so much!!
