I am so excited to finally have some curtains up! I’m even more excited that they cost me less than half the price of regular curtains from anywhere else. I shared yesterday my [DIY Window Frame Chalk Board] and we’ve got lots more DIY going on around the house but the DIY drop cloth curtains have got to be one of my favorites. We’ve been without curtains since we started shiplap a couple weeks ago and it was time to get some up since I got all the trim CJ put in around the window painted. You won’t believe how simple and easy these curtains are. Also they are a NO SEW!!
Here’s the packages of drop clothes I purchased at Home Depot. $11 each:
And pick your self up a package of ring clips. Here’s the ones I used:
Start with opening up your drop cloth packages and lay them out. I decided to run my drop cloths through the washer and dryer on a delicate cycle to help with the wrinkles and also to get them to smell better. After they were all dried they still had some wrinkles but that’s ok. I laid them out again to see how much they had shrunk (mine shrunk just a little bit). I folded the top part over about 15 inches so it has that little layer on top that’s flipped over. Yours may not be 15 inch since it’ll depend on how high your rob sits and how much the drop cloths shrunk. After you’ve got it all evened out, start clipping your curtains up. After I got them all up and straightened out I took my handheld steamer and steamed out some of the wrinkles but not all of them so that they have a more relaxed look to them. Play with them a little bit to get your desired look!
Since we have two VERY big windows up front I ended up using one whole panel for each window. If you have a smaller window you can simply cut your drop cloth in half and do that same thing to have 2 panels on each side of the window (We plan on doing that on our sliding glass door by our dining table). I’m so happy with how thick and large these drop cloth curtains are because we needed it. Again, since our front windows are really big, people can see it in them really easily and at night we can completely close them and have complete privacy. They make all different sizes and thicknesses of drop cloths, just search around your local Home Depot and Lowe’s for what suits you! If you are on a serious budget for your home decor, then I totally suggest these but also I did them because I love how they look and how cozy they make our living room feel compared to a lot of other curtains we’ve had up in the past. I’m hoping this is helpful to some since I know I would have loved to have these when I was on a major budget back in the day. Don’t hesitate to shoot me a message, comment or email if you have any questions. I’m so thankful for all my readers, followers and supporters.
